I have arrived in Homer, Alaska and it is everything I thought it could be. More probably. I ended up surfing at a house in Anchorage with my buddy Travis who I climbed with in Ton Sai, Thailand. The next day I met up with some of the other collective participants and drove down to Homer. I drove the first part of the trip, and guy named Andrew who I had also met in Thailand drove the rest of the way. We stopped off at a little pizza joint on the way down for dinner, and Cameron and I walked into a bar where we were astounded by the crowded interior. The headline man/band was called Hobo Jim, and he was amazing. We sat for a beer and a few songs, ending with the National Anthem. The whole bar participated, men, women and children all.
We arrived at the collective, and I finally got to meet everyone I had been talking to online for weeks. We built a fire and chilled outside until darkness set in, around 2:00 am. This morning I woke up and went to town where I bought some books at a thrift store, and saw the town. I met a guy named Josh who needed help setting up some beds and cleaning out a house that some people were moving into, and spent the rest of the day working with him. I hope he will have more work for me to do around the town for the rest of the time I am here.
